Sweet Mackey's owners turned him in because they were moving and couldn’t keep him. (on his birthday of all days!) He was born 4/28/08 and neutered prior to turn-in. He was seen at Banfield on a regular basis, and was up-to-date on all vaccinations when he was turned in to the St. Lucie Humane Society, 4/28/09. Mackey was an indoor pet and lived with a couple and two teenage children, so we assume based on history and his current habits, that he was house-broken at the time.

Mackey is a well-adjusted neutered male of mixed unknown breed. Based on body structure, it is assumed he is a sight hound mix. He is brindle/brown in coloring, and is single coated. He has frontally aligned hazel colored eyes, and terrier ears. His teeth are in great condition and show very little signs of tartar. He shows mild positive interest in other dogs and cats, and tolerance to children of various ages. Mackey is more affectionate driven and enjoys being around people. He is playful when motivated, and quickly reverts to a relaxed state once game play is ended. Mackey enjoys affection, and will attempt to crawl in your lap if encouraged. He is slightly sound reactive, a possible indicator of limited socialization, and runs to people for security and comfort if frightened. He presents with high intelligence and high associative capabilities. He’s tolerates bathing well. He allows touching throughout his body. He has shown signs of sensitivity at the base of his tail. We have been working on desensitization of this area with improved results.

Mackey has learned, and is proficient in the following commands based on semi-structured on leash, and structured off-leash environments:

After being overbred, dumped at a school yard, and overlooked for over four months, this sweet, and extremely intelligent girl has finally found a forever home! You deserve the best, now show them what you're made of, lovey!

Dudley is a pure Sussex Spaniel.  He's been at the shelter since May 1, 2008.  Dudley is 1 year, 2 months old and has a terrific personality.  He's very people oriented, loves to play fetch, and enjoys playing in water.  He knows obedience commands, and just needs some brushing up.
